The Debutante Cotillion, a biennial tradition since 1990, is a major youth development and scholarship fundraising program sponsored by the Marietta-Roswell Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Inc. as part of Delta's National Five-Point program. Cotillion proceeds provide scholarships and funds to support many local community service programs.
In our Cotillion, every participant is a winner! Each young lady receives a scholarship during the Debutante Cotillion Ball. The amount of each scholarship awarded is directly related to the amount of funds raised throughout the year by the debutante. To date, MRAC has issued over $170,000 in scholarships and $45,0000 in funds for local community programs due to the efforts of chapter members, our debutantes, their families, and community sponsors.
The Debutante experience is also designed to be a rite of passage program that prepares young ladies for a successful transition from high school into the world at large. We provide a year of business, cultural, and social enrichment activities that culminates in the presentation of these outstanding young African-American women at the 2012 Debutante Ball. This "Evening of Ebony Elegance" is one of their most memorable moments in their lives and celebrates the transition into young womanhood.
We take great pleasure in providing this program to the Atlanta Metro community. We invite you to join the journey!
