Delta's work in prevention and "wellness" translates to health education programs, health fairs and provision of health care services. Delta also supports medical research that examines illnesses that victimize specific segments of the country's population.

The Call 2 Protect campaign collects wireless phones to benefit survivors of domestic violence. Phones are refurbished and become lifelines for domestic violence survivors when faced with an emergency situation.

Heart disease is women's #1 killer-a fact that most women don't know. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is the first sorority to join the American Heart Association's "Go Red for Women" Campaign. The campaign is an organizational alliance that works to educate women on heart disease. The program raises awareness of the risks and causes of heart disease and focuses women on healthier life styles

The 50 Million Pound Challenge

on July 21, 2007, at the 50 Million Pound Challenge Atlanta Kickoff Party. MRAC has joined with Delta's from accross the country to partner with the campaign to "Give Up the Pounds, Not the Fight". We recognize The 50 Million Pound Challenge is a historic opportunity for African-Americans to come together against a growing health crisis. Our Challenge is to collectively loose 50 million pounds and reduce the very real risk that being overweight poses to our community. Learn more about the challenge then... International Day of Service/World AIDS Day
In the United States, the HIV/AIDS epidemic is a health crisis for African Americans. At all stages of HIV/AIDS-from infection with HIV to death with AIDS-blacks (including African Americans) are disproportionately affected compared to members of other races and ethnicities

Our community must fight and prevention is the key to curtailing the HIV pandemic. MRAC is committed to working with our community to slow the spread of HIV among African Americans. As a day of united force and power, Deltas from across the country unite to provide HIV prevention education, lectures on Understanding HIV, and visits to people living with HIV/AIDS.
